Benchmark Medical’s board of directors has appointed William R. Floyd as chairman and chief executive officer of the company.

“I believe Benchmark Medical is on the cusp of becoming a leading player in the health care industry,” Floyd said, “and I am both honored and thrilled to be leading the organization at this important time.”

He joined Beverly as president in 2000 and was named chairman and chief executive officer in December 2001.

His management experience extends beyond the health care industry, holding leadership positions for Choice Hotels International and PepsiCo Inc. Earlier in his career, Floyd worked in a variety of marketing roles at Pillsbury, Gillette and The Beech-Nut Nutrition Corporation.

Floyd currently serves as chairman of the board of trustees of Valley Forge Military Academy and is also on the board of Philadelphia Outward Bound. He is a board member of Fired Up, a casual dining restaurant chain and is a past member of the board of Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics.
