International Trade Show Opens; Record Numbers Expected

LEIPZIG — The Leipziger Messe was busy with activity yesterday as
the International Trade Show opened multiple exhibit halls to visitors and
began the first of 4 days of workshops to showcase new and upcoming
innovations.

Since 2000, this location in Leipzig has been the host to the
International Trade Show. The first year, 10,000 visitors from 30 countries
attended, as did 318 exhibitors from 24 countries. Since then things have
grown. The 2008 International Trade Show welcomed 18,100 visitors from 85
countries and 448 exhibitors from 37 countries – a trend that is expected
to continue this year due in part to the joint meeting with the 13th ISPO World
Congress. Preliminary numbers indicate that as many as 530 exhibitors are
expected with a total of 19,000 visitors.

Attendees come with good reason: A hub of world premieres for new
technologies in prosthetics, orthotics, footwear, compression therapy and
rehabilitation. Meeting planners have made it easy for newcomers to navigate
and find companies through the use of “Country Pavilions,” that offer
a unique international flavor to the gathering.
