Stanley Stern joins Ekso Bionics’ board of directors

Ekso Bionics Holdings has announced the appointment of Stanley Stern, MBA, as an independent director of the firm, effective immediately.

Stern’s appointment expands the board to six directors, according to a company press release.

“Stanley will add critical expertise and industry knowledge to our board,” Nathan Harding, Ekso Bionics CEO and co-founder, said in the release. “His 30 years of experience across the financial, technology, biotech and medical device sectors will add a valuable perspective to our board of directors.”

Stern is managing partner of Alnitak Capital, which he founded in 2013 to provide board-level strategic advisory services, primarily in technology-related industries. He is also chairman of the board of Audiocodes, a leader in voice over internet protocol infrastructure equipment, and a member of the board and chairman of the audit committee for Foamix, according to the release.

Prior to founding Alnitak, Stern was a managing director at Oppenheimer & Co. from 1995 to 2000 and from 2004 to 2013, where, among other positions, he led the firm’s investment banking department and technology investment banking groups. He also previously held roles at Salomon Brothers, STI Ventures and C.E. Unterberg, according to the release.
