Wounded Warrior Project announces new advisory council

The Wounded Warrior Project has assembled an advisory council to provide leadership and direction in the organization’s mission to honor and empower wounded service members.

“The WWP [Wounded Warrior Project] Advisory Council will help guide the direction of the organization and navigate its future,” Al Giordano, chief operating officer of WWP, stated in a press release. “This council brings a wealth of experience to the table and will serve as an invaluable resource as we strive towards our goal of serving 100,000 warriors by 2017 and raising $500 million for our Long-Term Support Trust.”

Council members include: Anthony Principi, WWP advisory council chair, U.S. Navy veteran, former secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA); Ron Drach, U.S. Army veteran, former national employment director of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and director of government and legislative affairs of the Department of Labor’s Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS); John Loosen, U.S. Army veteran, former VA prosthetic specialist; Lt. Col. Leo Thorsness, U.S. Air Force (Ret), Congressional Medal of Honor (CMH) recipient, former Washington state senator, member of the board of directors for the CMH Society, CMH Foundation and America’s Warrior Partnership; Ronald Chez, president and owner of Ronald L. Chez Inc., chairman of the board of Epiworks and the Chez Family Foundation; Maj. Matthew Cavanaugh, U.S. Army strategist and assistant professor at U.S. Military Academy (West Point, N.Y.); William Tobin, U.S. Army veteran, member of the board of directors for Engility Holdings; David Gowel, U.S. Army veteran, chief executive officer of RockTech; Edward Meagher, U.S. Air Force veteran, chief operating officer of Information Innovations Inc.; Lt. Gen. Richard Tryon, U.S. Marine Corps (Ret.), former commander of Marine Corps Forces Europe; Scott Di Valerio, former chief executive officer of Outerwall; and Joe McHugh, U.S. Navy veteran, executive director of advisory services practice for Ernst & Young LLP.
