More than 3,000 visitors from 110 countries were in attendance at the 2015 International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics World Congress, held June 22-25 in Lyon, France.
The International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) exhibition, organized by the German company Leipziger Messe, hosted 138 companies from 23 countries.
The conference, whose theme was “AIM: Assessment, Integration and Mobility,” offered lectures from 469 speakers.
“Knowledge builds bridges and relationships and provides more accessible care to people with [prosthetic and orthotic] needs,” Bengt Söderberg, CPO, gait lab manager for the Scandinavian Orthopedic Laboratory in Sweden, said in a press release.
During the conference, Söderberg announced the ISPO / WHO and UN GATE (Global Cooperation on Assistive Health Technology) initiative, which “aims to supply 85% of the world population who do not get any service or treatment,” he said.
The next World Congress will be held May 8-11, 2017, in Cape Town, South Africa.
