Eastside Prosthetics & Orthotics hosts First Swing Learn to Golf clinic

Portland, Ore.-based Eastside Prosthetics & Orthotics recently hosted a First Swing Learn to Golf clinic for local therapists, students and patients. The event was held at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Ore. It was led by W.C. Fields, instructor for the National Amputee Golf Association (NAGA), and assisted by Bobby Mourino. The morning session clinic offered individual and group instruction on balance, grip, range of motion and more.

“My son absolutely loves all sports. He knows his limb difference is not an excuse,” Aaron Tinkle, a clinic participant who attended with his son Isaac, said. “He tries everything and clinics like these help reinforce this.  He is only 6, but I know he is going to lead a happy and successful life.”

The golf clinic was followed by the annual Northwest NAGA tournament. Next year’s tournament will be held in the same location and preceded again by a First Swing Learn to Golf clinic.
