ISPO announces new member societies in Ukraine, Qatar

The International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics recently announced two new member societies, in Ukraine and Qatar.

According to press releases from the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO), the organization’s new member societies will work to improve the lives of differently abled people in their respective countries.

ISPO Ukraine announced the following goals: to partner with educational institutions toward the establishment of dedicated CPO courses; to organize ISPO seminars and workshops; to provide communication between the O&P field and the government; to improve the country’s laws for differently abled people; to create awareness of disability and rehabilitation needs; and to provide a platform and voice for differently abled people.

ISPO Qatar will be led by staff from the Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics at Rumailah Hospital, a multispecialty wing of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). ISPO and HMC will work together to develop international standards for practice.

ISPO Qatar announced its goals as follows: to have all professional staff recognized with ISPO membership; to improve association with other member countries and develop awareness of O&P advances; to improve staff knowledge of international practices through educational courses; to provide a forum in which O&P staff can exchange ideas with other multidisciplinary teams; and to raise awareness of ISPO Qatar’s services.
