Noridian Healthcare Solutions awarded CMS DME Jurisdiction A contract

Noridian Healthcare Solutions LLC recently announced it has been awarded the Durable Medical Equipment Jurisdiction A contract. The award is the result of a competitive procurement conducted by CMS, and nearly doubles the durable medical equipment workload for Noridian Healthcare Solutions LLC, according to a company press release. The contract is currently administered by NHIC Corp.

“The award recognizes [Noridian Healthcare Solutions] NHS’s strong performance as a Medicare administrative contractor (MAC) and our ability to successfully transition workload and provide strong, consistent value throughout the contract term,” Tom McGraw, NHS president and chief executive officer, said in the press release. “This contract is a direct reflection of the great work our staff does each day.”

Under the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Jurisdiction A contract, NHS will administer Medicare claims from suppliers of DME, prosthetic and orthotic supplies in the following states: Connecticut; Delaware; Maine; Maryland; Massachusetts; New Hampshire; New Jersey; New York; Pennsylvania; Rhode Island; and Vermont. The District of Columbia also will be covered under this contract.

About 18% of the national Medicare DME claims volume falls under DME Jurisdiction A. The contract period for the award includes a base year and four year-long renewal options, with a total value of more than $90.9 million, according to the press release.

NHS holds four other MAC contracts including the DME Jurisdiction D contract, the two Medicare Part A/Part B contracts for Jurisdictions E and F, and the national Pricing, Data Analysis and Coding contract.
