Össur receives EPSRC grant

Össur and the U.K.-based Newcastle University recently announced they have received a grant for the SenseBack project. The grant for an equivalent of about $340,000 is supplied by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) in the U.K.

The SenseBack project focuses on the use of direct nerve stimulation to restore sensation to people with prosthetic hands. According to a press release from Össur, the purpose of the grant is to apply the technologies developed in the SenseBack project to lower limb prosthesis users. The grant will fund research beginning March 1, 2016 and ending Feb. 28, 2019.
