NAAOP announces new board member

The National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics recently announced the election of Kathy L. Mascola, LPO, CO, BOCPO, to its board of directors.

According to a press release from the National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics (NAAOP), Mascola is immediate past president of the New Jersey chapter of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists and has more than 28 years of clinical experience.

“NAAOP is excited to have Kathy Mascola join our board of directors,” David McGill, JD, board president for NAAOP, said in the release. “She has a strong history of leadership in one of the most active state O&P organizations in the country (New Jersey). We know Kathy will provide additional perspective and insight to NAAOP as we look to continue to build resources and support that meet our members’ needs.”

Mascola works as an O&P practitioner at Next Step Orthopaedics Inc. in West Orange, N.J. She received an associate’s degree and physical therapist assistant certificate from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a bachelor’s degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics from New York University.

 “Kathy is a leader and someone who has shown through her life’s work that she truly cares for others, whether it be in her professional career, or as a scout leader, or soccer coach, or being active throughout her community. We feel fortunate to have someone of her character serving on our board,” George Breece, executive director of NAAOP, said in the release.
