O&P News provides live coverage of 2017 AOPA World Congress

O&P News will report live from the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association World Congress at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, which is held from Sept. 69.

This year, the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA) celebrates its 100th anniversary, as nine other organizations partner with AOPA to host the second annual World Congress. The first congress attracted more than 2,500 participants from 43 countries, according to AOPA’s website.

The congress’ goal is to “improve O&P patient care by bringing together practitioners, researchers, manufacturers, physicians, facility owners and other O&P caregivers from around the world to learn, share and collaborate similar to international events enjoyed by those in Europe and other parts of the world,” AOPA reported on the website.

The event will include specialized education tracks for orthotists, prosthetists, pedorthists, technicians and business managers; research and development; clinical education; practical learning and live demonstrations; updates on health care law in the United States; and the largest display of exhibits in the Western Hemisphere for the orthotic, prosthetic and pedorthic profession, according to AOPA.
