VIDEO: How ankle systems differ

ATLANTA — Whether a patient would benefit from a hydraulic foot/ankle system or a microprocessor-controlled system was discussed during a presentation at the International African American Prosthetic and Orthotic Annual Meeting.

In a video perspective, Matthew Nelson, CPO, a senior clinical prosthetist with Freedom Innovations, discussed his presentation about the differences between Freedom’s Kinterra, a standard hydraulic ankle system, and Kinnex, a microprocessor-controlled ankle system, in which the system can be controlled by a phone app.

He focused on what type of patient would most benefit from the Kinnex system and discussed coding, reimbursement and pricing during his presentation.
