The American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association has announced a request for pilot grant proposals in orthotic and prosthetic research, according to a press release.
In a partnership with the Center for O&P Learning and Evidence-Based Practice (COPL), the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA) is seeking proposals in 16 potential topics area. They include the following:
- Patient community outcomes, such as activity, social interactions, depression and anxiety;
- The effects of prosthetic component selection on community activity levels, as opposed to the laboratory environment;
- The origins, clinical goals and prevalence of prosthesis prescribing patterns;
- The relationship between biomechanical performance measures and functional levels; and
- Open topics.
The request for proposal includes a full list of the topics for which proposals are being sought.
The AOPA and COPL will give preference to grant proposals that “address evidence-based clinical application” in O&P, as noted in the release.
