Standing Hockey World Championships Begin in Canada

The fifth World Championships of the International Standing Amputee
Hockey Federation (ISIHF) hosted by the Defi Sportif at Aréna
Saint-Michel in Montreal begin today and continue through May 2.

The Canadian Team, four-time world champions, will play host to teams
from the United States, Latvia and Finland, as well as a World team.

The World Team is composed of players from ISIHF National Member
Associations, and from countries where Standing Hockey is not yet widely
practiced. The sport uses International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) rules of
play. A classification system is used to establish equality on the ice, keep
the game exciting and allow equity for arm and leg amputees to play this sport.
