Hanger Employee Bikes 100 Miles to Raise Funds for Pediatric Cancer Center

On September 24, Dennis Huysman, Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics New England market leader, will participate in the Seacoast Tri-State Century Ride where he will bike 100 miles along the coasts of Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine.

The ride is a way of raising funds for the Lafayette Family Cancer Center in Brewer, Maine, the designated charity of 14-year-old Hanger patient Sam Alexander who is currently battling cancer. Huysman is participating in the ride as a tribute to Alexander, whose birthday is the day of the 100-mile ride. Proceeds collected in Alexander’s honor will be used to build new pediatric treatment areas in the Lafayette Family Cancer Center and Children’s Cancer Treatment Center in 2012. The areas will be designed so that children will be able to be cared for in an area that is especially suited to help them be comfortable, while undergoing lifesaving treatments.
