IAAPOC presents scholarship awards

The International African American Prosthetic & Orthotic Coalition has awarded Delisa Lawson and Juan Cave II with the Sam D. Benson Scholarship at their annual meeting and scientific conference. The scholarship is named for the first president of the International African American Prosthetic & Orthotic Coalition (IAAPOC).

Lawson is presently attending the master of science in prosthetics and prosthetics program at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She received her bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from North Carolina State University.

Cave is presently attending the master of science in prosthetics and prosthetics program at California State University, Dominguez Hills. He received his bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.

Lawson and Cave, who both plan to graduate in May 2014, will receive $1,000 to assist them in their in prosthetics and orthotics education.
