Boone Appointed New Editor-In-Chief

The American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists announced the appointment of David A. Boone, PhD, MPH, CP as the new editor-in-chief of the Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics (JPO). Boone has more than 20 years of experience as a certified prosthetist and has been widely published both nationally and internationally. He will begin his term as editor-in-chief in July 2008.

“A journal is an essential voice and record of any true profession. The JPO will continue to report the latest thinking in patient care and the best available scientific evidence to support our fundamental clinical understanding of prosthetic and orthotic care,” Boone said in a press release. “The JPO will also continue to seek greater recognition within the community of medical journals. With that recognition will come greater understanding and respect for the O&P profession by other health care professions, government and third party payers.”

The Academy is grateful to Jeffrey A. Nemeth, CPO, FAAOP for his efforts as the current editor-in-chief.

“As outgoing editor-in-chief, I have enjoyed this opportunity to tackle the challenges facing both the JPO and the prosthetic and orthotic community. It was a privilege to be selected for this position, and I, along with my editorial review board, feel proud of the increased quality of articles presented during the past 3 years,” Nemeth said. “I know the level of research will continue to improve under the direction of David Boone, and I wish him much success in carrying forward with the goals of the JPO.”
