TV Star Bianca Kajlich Tweets, Raises Funds for Amputee Coalition Youth Camp

Bianca Kajlich, star of the CBS show “Rules of Engagement” is holding a Twitter campaign this week to raise funds for the Knoxville-based Amputee Coalition’s Paddy Rossbach Youth Camp. In honor of her birthday on March 26, Kajlich has asked her fans and friends to pledge contributions that will send 100 children with limb loss to the camp this summer.

Her goal is to raise $34,000 to celebrate her 34th birthday.

“Bianca and her brother Andre have not only been a great help in our fundraising efforts for the camp, but they have both been counselors at the camp. We thank them for their tireless efforts on behalf of the children and the limb loss community,” Marshall J. Cohen, chairman of the board of the Amputee Coalition, stated in a press release.

People wishing to contribute can visit Kajlich’s Twitter page at: http://twitter.com/MissKajlich.

Andre Kajlich, Bianca’s brother, is a bilateral amputee who lost his legs as a result of a train accident in Prague 7 years ago. Bianca and Andre taught a performing arts program at the camp in 2010 and both will be returning to the camp to teach the course again this year.

The 5-day summer camp offers a full range of activities that include fishing, swimming, zip lining, canoeing, theater, dance, archery and more. A unique aspect of this program, Cohen stated, is that campers are not accompanied by their parents, which inspires campers to take on new challenges, be independent, test themselves and build new friendships in a supportive, caring environment.

The camp is held at the Joy Outdoor Education Center between Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio. All expenses and airfare are covered for the campers by the Amputee Coalition.
