OPAF awards 2013 Dale Yasukawa Memorial Scholarship

The Orthotic and Prosthetic Activities Foundation (OPAF) has awarded Josh Yoder its 2013 Dale Yasukawa Memorial Scholarship, according to a press release.

Yoder, from Oak Harbor, Wash., is currently finishing the orthotics certificate program at Northwestern University Prosthetic-Orthotic Center (NUPOC). Yoder completed the prosthetics certificate program at NUPOC in October 2012.

“I am honored to receive the Dale Yasukawa Memorial Fund Scholarship, and I look forward to using the funds to attend the upcoming local AAOP conference and defray some of the costs of school,” Yoder stated in the release.

Yoder has previously worked with Cornerstone Prosthetics and Orthotics in Mt. Vernon, Wash. and Fabtech Systems. He also volunteered with HELPS International to deliver prostheses to patients in Guatemala. Yoder will begin his orthotic residency at Evergreen Prosthetics and Orthotics in Portland, Ore. in July.

“We are very pleased with the selection of Josh Yoder as the 2013 Dale Yasukawa Scholarship winner and believe that he will reflect the fine clinical work that has come to be recognized by all of our scholarship winners,” Robin Burton, OPAF executive director, stated in the release.
